About Us
MGI Fund Raising Consulting is a full-service philanthropic management-consulting firm, serving non-profit organizations across North America since 1981. As dedicated specialists in development and fundraising, we have earned our reputation as the foremost authority on our industries’ best practices.
Choosing the right professional council can sometimes be a frustrating, even confusing, experience. There are many good firms providing fundraising, communications, marketing and management consultation in North America. But we feel there’s a major difference between MGI and others. We turn perceived obstacles into seeds for success.
History
The firm was founded in 1981 as the Martin Group to provide philanthropic management consulting to fundraising institutions and organizations. In the early years, clients were primarily locally based educational institutions—the first clients being a private school in Winnipeg, Manitoba, The YMCA, and The Salvation Army’s Grace Hospital—as well as voluntary sector organizations.
Over time, the firm grew in size, scope and reputation. In the 1980s, when more universities, independent schools and community colleges emerged as fundraising powerhouses, MGI was selected by a number leading public university to guide its first major campaign. MGI quickly became a leading consultant to colleges and independent schools and later expanded its practice to include healthcare, libraries and cultural institutions.
To date, we have helped nearly 1500 institutions anticipate, manage and respond effectively to the challenge of the philanthropic marketplace. To serve this growing clientele, MGI have specialists located throughout the United States and Canada serving a wide range of clients.
